MINSK, 18 September (BelTA) - The achievements of the country are interconnected with the unity of the people, Chairman of the Board of the Belarusian Society Znanie Vadim Gigin stated during the Forum of Patriotic Forces of Belarus at the Palace of Sports in Minsk on 17 September, BelTA learned.
Vadim Gigin noted that on this festive day, much is said about unity. “In fact, we have formed as a single nation. We have no division into western and eastern, northern and southern Belarus. This is our great achievement, and we did it together. After all, we are Belarusians," he said.
The speaker urged to discard the adjectives "small" and "little" when referring to our country: "Belarus is a confident, independent, and sovereign state. Sovereignty is not determined by the size of territory or population. Sovereignty is an internal sense of pride in one's country."
We are the heirs of a great historical tradition. "The tradition of those heroes who fought for our Belarus. We are the heirs of generations of victors and cannot lose the memory of them, for we are Belarusians," Vadim Gigin said.
This five-year period has been declared the Five-Year Plan of Quality, and the year as the Year of Improvement. "We can confidently say that all the set goals will be achieved. After all, we take pride in the quality of our products, the orderliness of our streets, the cleanliness of our cities and villages. Because we are Belarusians," he emphasized.
In conclusion, Vadim Gigin emphasized that Belarus’ achievements are unimaginable without the choice the country made in 1994: "We voted for our president and remain faithful to that choice. These are challenging times. But when have times ever been simple? There are numerous threats and challenges around us. It seems the world has gone mad. The mission of our people is to preserve peace, stability, and unity. We can accomplish this because we are Belarusians.”
