MINSK, 24 March (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia, unlike most EU countries, defend their own traditions and sovereignty, Editor-in-Chief of the Words and Meanings almanac Elena Kondratieva-Salguero (France) said in a recent episode of BelTA’s YouTube project “V teme” [On Point].
“As long as Belarus is not dragged into the hopeless, gloomy illusion that is the European Union, as long as Belarus is not put on Ukraine’s path, your country has absolutely nothing to fear. Belarus and Russia are sailing on their own, defending their own traditions and sovereignty, shedding the colonial status they got themselves into back in the 1990s. I think you have nothing to fear,” Elena Kondratieva-Salguero said.
According to her, even the “absolutely illiterate rulers of the European Union” do not believe what they say. “They need their population to believe it. But no one in their right mind would believe that Russia needs any extra territories, that once it secures itself from Ukraine Russia would go somewhere else. For what?” Elena Kondratieva-Salguero asked rhetorically.
