MOSCOW, 25 September (BelTA) — The forum of the universities of engineering and technology of the Belarus-Russia Union State kicked off in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia. Until 27 September, more than 600 students and professors from over a hundred Belarusian and Russian universities will share their experience in engineering education, BelTA learned from the Standing Committee of the Union State of Belarus and Russia.
"Belarus is one of the key partners of our region. We pay special attention to our bilateral cooperation as a priority area of our international activities. Nizhny Novgorod Oblast is actively developing partnership with Brest Oblast, Vitebsk Oblast, Grodno Oblast and Minsk Oblast. Thanks to such strong ties between our local governments, we have signed 37 agreements that allow us to develop mutually beneficial projects. This forum is a platform for developing engineering skills, promoting innovative technologies and forging closer ties between universities. Together we are moving into the future where education, science and production are closely connected in order to develop innovative solutions for our common growth and prosperity," Minister of International and Interregional Relations of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast Olga Guseva said during an opening ceremony of the forum.
The 13th forum of universities of engineering and technology is being held in Russia for the first time. Previously, Belarusian National Technical University hosted the forum. The forum became a platform for the exchange of experience and ideas in the Union State. "Every year the forum grows in importance and influence. It is important that participants actively share their knowledge and discoveries, because in a rapidly changing world innovation plays a key role in economic development. Joint projects in science and education can become the foundation for new technologies and methods that will be in demand in the labor market. Today we pass the baton to Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University. We are confident that it will continue this important work, inspiring the new generation of engineers and scientists for achievements in science and technology," First Deputy Rector of the Belarusian National Technical University Andrei Safonov noted.
The forum will feature the following sections: priority areas of scientific, technological and innovative activities of the Union State universities; development of engineering education in the Union State; youth innovative entrepreneurship; engineering career; youth policy. Organizers of the forum are Belarusian National Technical University, Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University, the Standing Committee of the Union State, the Education Ministry of Belarus, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia.
