MINSK, 6 October (BelTA) – As part of BelTA’s YouTube project The Honest Story the American John Dougan has talked about how the attitude of the general public in the United States of America towards combat operations in Ukraine had changed over time and how support for Ukraine had affected ordinary Americans.
Dwelling on changes in the attitude of Americans towards the conflict in Ukraine, John Dougan noted: “Well, it’s changed a lot since the beginning of the special military operation because at first people were happy to support the war because they believe what the government says, that Russia is evil. And then more people started realizing, oh, this isn’t--this isn’t--you know, the government’s lying to us.”
“And now everything in America is so expensive because they’ve created all these sanctions that have backfired, and these sanctions are responsible for making so many things in America expensive. It’s responsible for incredibly high inflation. And it’s one of the root causes for the housing crisis that we’re facing in America right now. Nobody can afford anything,” John Dougan said.
He went on saying: “And now they’re starting to pay attention. Maybe we shouldn’t have given $200 billion to Ukraine because we need that money back here. So now they’re starting to wake up.”
