Former Ukrainian PM: ‘Ukraine is bankrupt’

MINSK, 21 August (BelTA) – Ukraine's economy has been destroyed, the state's debt hit $150 billion, former Ukrainian Prime Minister Nikolai Azarov said in the latest episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA's YouTube channel.
"The propaganda machine, basically Goebbels' system in Ukraine has turned people into zombies. For some reason they believe that they are defending their homeland, but there is nothing left of it. Ukraine is bankrupt. The economy has been destroyed. The state owes over $150 billion; it won't be able to pay it back. Take a look: the budget deficit of the Kiev regime exceeds the entire budget of Belarus. But industry and economy are functioning in Belarus," Nikolai Azarov said.

According to him, statements that the West is tired of Ukraine are groundless. "Show me the facts. Funding is increasing, arms deliveries are growing. Who is tired? Therefore, do not misrepresent the situation" Nikolai Azarov emphasized.

The former Ukrainian prime minister pointed out that Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko is a realist. "I have known him for many years. He is one of the most experienced politicians in the world. The European politics has degraded. There are few people who would be on par with Aleksandr Lukashenko. The interview he gave [to the Rossiya TV channel] shows that the right decisions will be made," Nikolai Azarov said.
