Foreign journalists taken to Belarus-Ukraine border on instruction of Belarusian president

GOMEL, 28 January (BelTA) – Belarus’ State Border Committee has organized a trip of foreign journalists to the border with Ukraine on the instruction of the Belarusian president, BelTA has learned.

The head of state gave the corresponding instruction at the polling station on 26 January. Thus, foreign journalists got an opportunity to see with their own eyes the situation on the border between Belarus and Ukraine.

The border agency provided journalists with access to all locations of interest and commented on the state border protection in this area.

According to the official representative of Belarus’ State Border Committee Anton Bychkovsky, about 15,000 Ukrainian troops are deployed in the border areas of Ukraine near the Belarusian border. These are the armed forces, National Guard, police and territorial defense.

“As for the protection of the state border, lately we have seen that Ukrainian border guards have started to behave more calmly and professionally,” Anton Bychkovsky emphasized.
“Over the past year, about 350 flights of unmanned aviation, unmanned aerial vehicles were recorded on the border with Ukraine. These unmanned aerial vehicles violated the airspace of the Republic of Belarus, the border about 20 times,” Anton Bychkovsky said.

He noted that the Belarusian border service and border guards are taking appropriate measures. “Border guards are armed with radio-electronic rifles, pump-action weapons to prevent the violation of the state border by drones,” Anton Bychkovsky said.
