Foreign experts to prepare recommendations for Belarusian statistics system in 2020

MINSK, 15 November (BelTA) – International experts will prepare recommendations for the statistics system of Belarus in 2020, BelTA learned from representatives of the National Statistics Committee of Belarus after the second stage of the regular global evaluation of the country's national statistics system.

According to the source, international experts intend to prepare a report with recommendations on priority avenues of further development of the national statistics system of Belarus in February 2020.

The mission that has just finished working in Belarus included experts of the European Union statistics service, the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), and independent experts.

While in Belarus the experts were made familiar with how territorial branches of the state statistics system work, with the practice of using the population registry to organize statistic monitoring, with how statistics records are kept in the spheres of state finance and education. The experts were informed about experimental auxiliary accounts in the sphere of education, about the system of statistics classifications, and the experience accrued in the course of carrying out the Belarus population census in 2019.

Belarus' national statistics system was previously submitted to global evaluation in 2012 and 2013.
