MINSK, 30 October (BelTA) - Syrian MPs will take part in the observation of the presidential election in Belarus, Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Bassam Sabbagh told the media following a meeting with Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova in Minsk on 30 October, BelTA has learned.
"I conveyed to the chairwoman of the Council of the Republic special and warm greetings from the chairperson of the People's Assembly of the Syrian Arab Republic. I also informed that the speaker of the People's Assembly of the Syrian Arab Republic decided to send MPs as observers for the presidential election in the Republic of Belarus," Bassam Sabbagh said.
"I also express my gratitude to President Aleksandr Lukashenko for his humanitarian initiatives to host our children for rehabilitation in the Republic of Belarus. Since the beginning of this program (in 2017), the Republic of Belarus has welcomed more than 1,500 children from Syria. The recuperative holidays in Belarus have a positive effect on our children both educationally and psychologically," Bassam Sabbagh added.
