First CIS Volunteers Forum to be held in Kazakhstan in 2026

MINSK, 4 July (BelTA) – The First CIS Volunteers Forum is planned to be held in Kazakhstan in 2026. The proposal to hold the forum was put forward and supported at the meeting of the CIS Youth Affairs Council in Gabala, Azerbaijan, BelTA learned from the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the ceremony dedicated to the implementation of the CIS Youth Capital project in Gabala in 2025. The meeting was attended by representatives of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, organizations promoting youth engagement, youth entrepreneurship and youth volunteer movement, as well as the CIS Executive Committee.

The members of the council discussed Azerbaijan’s youth policy, took stock of the results of the CIS Year of the Volunteer Movement in 2024 and a plan of work in 2025 to encourage young people to participate in events dedicated to the 80th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War - the Year of Peace and Unity in the Fight against Nazism.

The participants of the meeting reviewed progress achieved in 2025-2026 to implement the International Youth Cooperation Strategy and the Cooperation Concept to Promote the Youth Volunteer Movement. The members of the council agreed with the proposal to hold the First CIS Volunteers Forum in the Republic of Kazakhstan in 2026.

The delegates praised Azerbaijan’s work to implement the CIS Youth Capital project in the city of Gabala, and also accepted the proposals of Belarus and Kazakhstan to nominate Minsk for getting such a status in 2027 and Karaganda in 2028. The participants of the meeting reviewed preparations for the final stage of the international project “100 ideas for the CIS”, which is planned to be held in Astana at the end of this year.

The delegates heard reports on the work done and plans of a number of basic organizations and discussed approaches to arranging the exposition “CIS for Youth. Youth for the CIS” for the CIS History Museum.
