Fire brigades patrolling accommodation center for refugees near Grodno

GRODNO, 19 November (BelTA) – Fire patrols are deployed at the temporary accommodation facility set up for refugees in the logistics center near Grodno to make sure that no one smokes or uses stoves inside, President's Aide – Inspector for Grodno Oblast Yuri Karayev informed, BelTA has learned.

“Fire patrols are stationed in the logistics center to make sure that no one smokes or uses stoves inside. There were several attempts to do it yesterday, but they were quickly prevented and people were told why they should not do it,” he said.

According to Yuri Karayev, instructions how to act in a case of an emergency were given to all services working on the ground. “Border guards, the military, including internal troops, and others who help maintain order in the camp were told how to respond to an emergency. The instructions were given in the presence of the chief of the Grodno Oblast branch of the Emergencies Ministry. As they say, a good commander is the one who foresees as many emergencies as possible and develops a response strategy. All of this has been done,” the presidential aide said.

He emphasized that the state should identify and anticipate possible threats and take measures to prevent them.

A reminder, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko had ordered to strengthen security and safety in the logistics center. Respective orders were given to Emergencies Minister Vadim Sinyavsky and Grodno Oblast Governor Vladimir Karanik. They need to pay primary attention to fire safety. The border guards and the local police were told to maintain safety and security in the camp as a whole.
