MINSK, 26 November (BelTA) – The documentary, Salei We Didn't Know About, made by correspondent of TV News Agency Anna Eismont and producer of the Belarusian TV and Radio Company Natalia Zhdanovich got bronze of the Baku Sports Film Festival, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian TV and Radio Company.
The film is dedicated to the memory of Belarusian ice hockey legend Ruslan Salei who died on 7 September 2011, when Yak-42 passenger aircraft, carrying the KHL's Lokomotiv Yaroslavl team, crashed near Yaroslavl on its way to Minsk, Belarus, for the KHL 2011/12 season opener.
The film, third best in the Sport and Personality nomination, tells about the life of the captain of the Belarusian national ice hockey team, the most successful Belarusian hockey player in the National Hockey League. During the film shooting Anna Eismont met with Ruslan's family to learn some things about Ruslan from his mother Tamara Gavrilovna, his sister Anzhela, and his wife Bethann. The film shows exclusive pictures from the Salei family achieves, many of which were shot by Ruslan himself. The film also contains recollections by Ruslan's friends and teammates. The role of Ruslan was performed by his son Aleksandro.
The 2nd Baku International Sports Film Festival was organized by the ministries of culture and tourism, youth and sport of Azerbaijan, the National Olympic Committee. The festival featured 115 films from 33 countries. Winners and prize-holders were named in five nominations: Sport and Personality, Films and TV Shows, Feature Film, Sport and World, National Film.
