"On Point"
MINSK, 24 April (BelTA) - Vladimir Zelensky does not make key political decisions on his own. He has long been built into the matrix of British influence, Oleg Yanovsky, a lecturer at MGIMO University, said in the latest episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA's YouTube channel.
According to the expert, the disruption of the talks in London has once again raised the question of the Ukrainian leader's independence. “Zelensky is not an independent figure. He has been a servant of many masters. From the very beginning, his campaign was handled by British PR firms, then by consulting agencies. His entire internet communication strategy was coordinated from the outside,” Oleg Yanovsky said.
He recalled that in late 2022 Jeremy Fleming, the then head of the cyber and signals intelligence agency GCHQ, talked openly about the coordination of cyber operations in Ukraine. Chief of Defence Intelligence Hockenhull detailed the OSINT strategy: dragging civilians into a military conflict, blurring the lines between military and civilian targets. “These things happened. Now it has become the norm to talk about it openly,” the MGIMO lecturer emphasized.
According to Oleg Yanovsky, Britain seeks to take charge of a new stage of the military confrontation, taking over from the United States. “Today NATO has no master, and Britain wants to become this master. Zelensky is a built-in figure. This is no longer conspiracy but conventional truth,” he said.
Oleg Yanovsky also noted that the London negotiations were not the first to go belly up. Over the two months alone, we have seen similar disruptions at least five times, Oleg Yanovsky noted. “First a consent, then loud statements. Then everything is revised and go bust. It is like a thing on the loop. Zelensky is a professional actor and this is the only thing he is good at,” the expert noted.
In his opinion, Kiev politics is carefully constructed by the British bureaucracy, PR and communication technologies. In this context, a leader has no other choice but to subordinate himself to the strategic interests of external players.
