"On Point"
MINSK, 31 August (BelTA) – U.S. President Donald Trump is trying by any means possible to distance himself from NATO, as this bloc is the losing side in the conflict with Russia, economist and analyst Sergei Banar said in a new episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
“I am absolutely against the narrative that Ukraine lost. Ukraine is merely a territory and an instrument that was used to try to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia or achieve its collapse. The real loser in this conflict is the North Atlantic Alliance,” Sergei Banar said.
According to the analyst, Donald Trump's desire to distance himself from NATO is also connected to this fact. “Just consider his statement that the USA is not supplying weapons to Ukraine - NATO is doing all that. That is, Trump is quickly distancing himself from the losers, shifting all of this onto Ursula von der Leyen, Rutte, Merz, Macron, and so on. I won't name the Baltic states on principle, because it's already ridiculous when specks on the map try to pass themselves off as geopolitical players,” he emphasized.
Sergei Banar believes that the proposals by NATO countries to deploy military contingents in Ukraine are devoid of meaning and logic. “In order to set conditions and ultimatums, one must either have parity in the conflict or be victorious in it. But here there is no parity whatsoever, and victory is something they can only dream of,” the analyst concluded.
