MINSK, 4 January (BelTA) – Through its actions in Venezuela, the United States is attempting to cover up problems in its own domestic politics, Nikolai Buzin, member of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus, told BelTA.
“Strikes on facilities in Venezuela are a clear example of the new U.S. national security concept. The United States is demonstrating to the world its ability to solve strategic tasks in different parts of the globe. Given that Venezuela is one of the largest suppliers of energy resources, specifically oil, this region is extremely important for the United States. Showing its ability to solve problems, even at a tactical level, is a necessity for the U.S. today, since domestic political problems must be covered up by the search for an external enemy. That enemy is Venezuela. The United States has already done everything possible. It exited the conflict in Ukraine, having achieved most of their goals and shifted the main burden onto European states. Now the U.S. is implementing its own concept in the region. Venezuela serves as an important example of Washington’s ability to accomplish tasks. Moreover, the country again underscores its advantage over other states,” Nikolai Buzin said.
He also pointed out that U.S. actions violate all existing laws and agreements at the interstate level, as well as the principles enshrined in the UN. “What will happen next? Most likely, the United States will attempt to change Venezuela’s government to one convenient for itself, which would allow it to take control of another resource-rich region. Later, all this will be localized, and any statements from the international community regarding violations will be ignored. U.S. President Donald Trump is pursuing his policy under the slogan ‘America First,’” the deputy emphasized.
Earlier, the Belarusian president strongly condemned the U.S. act of aggression against Venezuela. Aleksandr Lukashenko spoke about the consequences in a recent interview with American journalists. Specifically, he said that “this will be a second Vietnam”.
