"On Point"
MINSK, 8 September (BelTA) – The roots of the military conflict in Ukraine lie in the 2014 coup d’etat, the national security expert Aleksandr Tishchenko said in a new episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA's YouTube channel.
The expert noted that, according to various sources, the losses of the Ukrainian army during the armed conflict may significantly exceed one million people. “All these losses, by the way, are not Russia’s fault. It is not Moscow’s fault that so much has been destroyed and lost. It is the fault of those Ukrainian politicians who brought the situation to this state. And Zelensky, as the head of state, is not even 100% to blame. He was just the one who lit the fuse. The roots go back to the times of the 2014 coup d’etat,” Aleksandr Tishchenko stated.
He also commented on the common belief that Ukrainians and Russians will supposedly be unable to maintain friendly relations after this armed conflict. Aleksandr Tishchenko believes that numerous historical examples contradict such statements.
“If there is peace, opportunities for coexistence will be found. Reconciliation will happen, and hatred or malice will go away,” the expert stated.
According to Aleksandr Tishchenko, the roots of Russophobia in Ukraine are not in the Ukrainian people: “This infection was brought to them. And it will pass the moment the West stops treating Ukraine as a mere tool or a proxy.”
