Expert explains reason behind Ukraine's drone incursion on Belarus

MINSK, 10 August (BelTA) - Russian military observer of the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper, retired Colonel Viktor Baranets commented on Ukraine’s drone incursion into the territory of Belarus on the air of the ONT TV channel, BelTA has learned.

"If this continues [violation of the Belarusian airspace by Ukraine] I am absolutely sure that both the political and military leadership of Belarus will act much tougher. This is not to say that Belarus will join the special military operation but the response from Minsk, from your president, the government, and the Defense Ministry will be much, much tougher," the military expert emphasized.

"Ukraine is doing everything in order to be well beaten, divided, destroyed, and then it will be begging NATO to intervene and send troops to both Belarus and Russia. This is what this provocation is about," Viktor Baranets said.

As it has been reported, on 9 August, the air defense forces on duty detected unidentified air objects traveling from the territory of Ukraine towards the Republic of Belarus. In order to timely suppress a possible violation of the airspace of the Republic of Belarus, the designated forces and means were put on standby No. 1 in due time. After crossing the state border, the aerial targets were classified as unmanned aerial vehicles and were destroyed.
