Expert dismisses border policy of Poland, Baltic states as irrational

MINSK, 10 October (BelTA) – Poland and the Baltic states are pursuing an irrational policy on the border with Belarus, the national security expert Aleksandr Tishchenko said in a new episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
The expert drew a parallel between the wall erected by Belarus’ western neighbors and the Berlin Wall, stressing that the wall on the border with Belarus is even more deadly. “While the Berlin Wall saw an average of five deaths per year, this ‘Euro-wall’ claims about thirty. These are horrifying numbers, yet Europe remains silent. Moreover, our western neighbors are conducting official reprisals against refugees, which Europe conceals in an attempt to shirk responsibility. What does this tell you? There is no rationality to it,” Aleksandr Tishchenko said.

In his opinion, this policy primarily harms the very countries that pursue it. He cited the recent closure of the border with Belarus by Poland as an example. “Apparently, the cost of a single day of truck standstills at the Polish border was five times higher, on average, than a day of war in Ukraine. This is extremely significant. And these losses amounting to $10 billion are not only for the Polish side but for Europe as well. And this was in just two weeks,” the expert emphasized.

Aleksandr Tishchenko believes that the leadership of Poland and the Baltic states is represented by puppet politicians who are not free to make independent decisions: “They do not defend the interests of their states. Even more, they are traitors to their countries and their voters.”
