Expert describes Belarus' airspace violation by Kiev as provocation

MINSK, 10 August (BelTA) – Ukraine does not have enough capabilities for more than a provocation, independent military analyst Aleksandr Alesin said on the air of STV channel while commenting on the violation of the state border, BelTA has learned.

"Obviously, one of the goals was to force the Russian Federation to deploy its reserves not only to Kursk Oblast but also to Belarus, thus reducing the pressure on the Ukrainian military forces on the territory of Donbass and Kharkov regions. They may have such a plan. But I still think that Ukraine does not have enough capabilities for more than a provocation, because the situation will be even more difficult for Ukraine," Aleksandr Alesin noted.

Neither Belarus nor the Russian Federation is interested in Belarus getting directly involved as a participant in the special military operation in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the expert said. "Because the front, which Russia would have to hold, would significantly increase, the line of contact would grow by more than 1,000 kilometers. And the Russian troops would have to send a solid contingent to Belarus to help the Belarusian troops," he stressed.

As it has been reported, on 9 August, the air defense forces on duty detected unidentified air objects traveling from the territory of Ukraine towards the Republic of Belarus. In order to timely suppress a possible violation of the airspace of the Republic of Belarus, the designated forces and means were put on standby No. 1 in due time. After crossing the state border, the aerial targets were classified as unmanned aerial vehicles and were destroyed.
