Expert: Belarusians voted for the preservation of peace, stability in the country

MINSK, 31 January (BelTA) - The level of patriotism in Belarus has increased during this election campaign, Chairman of the Mogilev Oblast election commission Yevgeny Alekso said in the latest episode of BelTA’s project "The Nation Speaks".
"This election campaign, including early voting, showed a very high voter turnout in Mogilev Oblast: 92.64%. Some voters deliberately chose not to participate in early voting in order to attend the main election day on 26 January and enjoy the holiday," Yevgeny Alekso stated.

According to him, both international observers who worked in the region and national observers noted the high voter turnout. "Everyone noticed that a lot of people came to vote. People came with their children and grandchildren. In our region, the main election day was a real holiday," Yevgeny Alekso said. "In my opinion, the level of patriotism in our country has grown during this election campaign. Our information and awareness-raising events helped to achieve this, among other things."

"In fact, this election campaign has shown that the population made a choice not between candidates. They chose the preservation of peace and stability in the country," added Aleksandr Ivanenko, a representative of the Public Election Observation Center.
