MINSK, 22 August (BelTA) – During the strategic military exercise Zapad 2025 [West 2025], Belarus and Russia will primarily focus on practicing the defense of the Union State, Andrei Bogodel, Deputy Head of the Faculty of Education and Science – Head of the Education and Methodology Department of the Faculty of the General Staff of the Armed Forces at the Military Academy of Belarus, said in the latest episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
“Zapad 2025 is a military exercise that focuses on the defense of the Union State and explores how a potential armed conflict could develop in the European theatre of military operations,” he stressed. In this way, Belarus and Russia have taken a defensive stance, the expert noted
Andrei Bogodel recalled that the main maneuvers of the exercises had been moved deeper into Belarusian territory. “Once again, I would like to emphasize that no invasion is being planned. Moreover, in accordance with the Vienna Document, we have invited everyone to come and see everything for themselves,” he added.
