Exhibition timed to UN Day opens in National Library in Minsk

MINSK, 16 October (BelTA) – An exhibition dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the United Nations Organization opened in the National Library of Belarus on 16 October, BelTA learned from the organizers.

The exhibition features more than 100 documents in Russian and English from the library holdings. Visitors will be able to see books, periodicals, brochures, booklets. Thematic sections of the exhibition offer basic information about the organization and its efforts to maintain international peace and security, foster sustainable development and promote and protect human rights, as well as about international law, humanitarian aid, and relations between the UN and Belarus.

“The documents on display introduce visitors to the United Nations' efforts to save future generations from the scourge of war, maintain peace and international security, promote friendly relations between nations based on respect for the principle of equality and self-determination of peoples, international cooperation in resolving economic, social, cultural and humanitarian issues,” the National Library informed.

The exposition will stay open through 11 November. The project will be of interest to people working in the field of international law and international relations, political scientists, students and teachers.

24 October has been celebrated as United Nations Day since 1948. On this day the UN Charter entered into force in 1945.
