Exhibition of paintings by Belarusian artists opens in Vitebsk

VITEBSK, 14 July (BelTA) - An exhibition of paintings by Belarusian artists "Colorful Stories" opened in the Vitebsk Concert Hall on 14 July, BelTA has learned.

The launch of the exhibition by the Minsk-based ArtHaos gallery kicked-started the exhibition program at Slavianski Bazaar. It features about 30 works of artists, both eminent and fledgling. Among them are Nikolai Isaenok, Ivan Dmukhailo, Viktoria Ilyina, Egor Batalyonok, Valery Potvorov, Vladimir Kozhukh, Mikhail Levkovich, Oleg Skovorodko and others.

Lilia Lukashenko, the director of the ArtHaos gallery, noted that she was happy to return to Slavianski Bazaar. “The gallery brought the first exhibition to Vitebsk in 2019. Slavianski Bazaar is a festival of arts, and art exhibitions are an integral part of it. Colorful Stories is not so much about the colors of paintings. It is more about the inner world of each of us. We want to attract the viewer to a dialogue with the artist. Almost every painting has a small footnote with the author's commentary. Everyone will be able to correlate their feelings with the artist's experiences," Lilia Lukashenko said. She also announced that the Belarus gala concert on 18 July will feature a new project “Paintings on the screen”. It will present the works from the National Art Museum.

Today, Vitebsk, the hometown of many talented artists, has plunged into the wonderful atmosphere of the festival, Director of the Slavianski Bazaar festival Gleb Lapitsky pointed out. The Vitebsk Concert Hall hosted the first art exhibition two years ago. The organizers saw that it is a great venue for such events. “These paintings will be seen by many people, including participants of the children's song contest from 16 countries. They will see Belarusian art with their own eyes and will get familiar with Belarusian artists. This is one of those genuine feelings that define Slavianski Bazaar,” Gleb Lapitsky noted. He suggested that critics of the festival check out projects not only in the Summer Amphitheater, but also at other venues. He also cited the motto of the festival: “Through Art to Peace and Understanding”.

The 30th edition of the International Festival of Arts Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk will be running from 15-18 July, but the first events of the festival took place on 14 July. The solemn opening ceremony of the festival will be held at the main venue on 15 July. It will feature a ceremony to present the special award of the Belarusian president “Through Art to Peace and Understanding”. The festival will wrap up with a gala concert featuring a ceremony to award the winners of the song contests on 18 July. People's Artist of Belarus Anatoly Yarmolenko and Serbian singer Filip Zmaher will lead the jury of the adults' and children's song contests respectively. The festival will draw visitors from 33 countries, including around 5,000 artists.
