MINSK, 11 March (BelTA) – Organized tourist groups from Qatar and Oman have returned to Minsk on special Belavia flights, the National Union of the Tourism Industry of Belarus told BelTA.
According to the tour operator Intercity, 189 passengers arrived from Qatar (Doha). At the moment, this is the only evacuation flight from Qatar operated by a foreign airline under the current circumstances. It became possible thanks to the coordinated efforts of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Belarusian Embassy in Qatar, and the aviation authorities and agencies of both countries.
A total of 141 passengers returned from Oman (Salalah) strictly on schedule.
While diplomatic issues were being resolved, the tourists stayed in hotels and were provided with meals.
Amid regional restrictions, partners and government agencies of the two countries worked as a single mechanism. Instead of complicated transit routes, passengers were offered direct flights (with a technical landing in Aktau) and the highest possible level of safety.
The tour operator expressed gratitude for the support and coordination to the Belarusian Embassy in Qatar, Belavia, Qatar Tourism, and the host company RuStar Tourism.
