MOSCOW, 7 October (BelTA) – The introduction of digital passports for means of transportation, which is supposed to happen across the entirety of the Eurasian Economic Union on 1 November, may be delayed. Iya Malkina, Aide to the Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission, made the relevant statement at a media briefing on 7 October, BelTA has learned.
According to the source, the matter is hotly and frequently debated by the Eurasian Economic Commission. So far only Russia has switched to digital passports for vehicles. The other member states are at various stages of development of the digital vehicle passport systems. “The final decision has not been made. The member states and the experts the member states have authorized are holding internal consultations, including about the possibility of postponing the introduction of the digital vehicle passports across the entire union,” the official said.
