EU closes external borders for 30 days over coronavirus

MINSK, 19 March (BelTA) – The European Union has decided to impose entry restrictions on travelers from non-EU states for 30 days to curb the spread of the coronavirus. After that, the entry restrictions might be extended, BelTA learned from the Delegation of the European Union to Belarus.

“The travel restrictions will not apply to citizens of the European Union and countries of the Schengen zone (Iceland, Lichtenstein, Norway and Switzerland),” the message reads.

The regulations applying to the EU citizens will also be in place for nationals of the United Kingdom till the end of 2020. Exceptions will be made for a limited number of people, like diplomats and healthcare workers.
