Emil Czeczko applies to human rights lawyers, seeks refugee status

MINSK, 20 December (BelTA) - Polish citizen Emil Czeczko has applied to the center “Sistemnaya Pravozaschita” [“Systemic Human Rights Protection”] for assistance in protecting his rights and obtaining a refugee status, BelTA reports with reference to the Telegram channel of the center.

As BelTA has reported, the Investigative Committee will question Emil Czeczko. A source in Belarus' Investigative Committee stated: “An interview with the Polish soldier Emil Czeczko, who had requested a political asylum [in Belarus], was published in mass media on 17 December. In order to verify and document the published facts, he will be questioned, including about murders of people at the Polish border, within the framework of the criminal case into crimes against peace the Investigative Committee is investigating. The investigation team will evaluate all criminal actions of Polish defense, security, and law enforcement personnel.”
