
MINSK, 12 July (BelTA) – Belarusian Emergencies Minister Vadim Sinyavsky reported to Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko on the progress in the storm relief efforts. Following the report, the minister talked to the media and shared the details of the president’s instructions, BelTA learned.

According to the Emergencies Ministry, on 9 and 10 July Belarus experienced stormy weather. As a result, 27 communities were seriously affected. One the night from 9 to 10 July, the Emergencies Ministry received 1,500 calls for assistance from the population in Mogilev and 4,500 calls to hotlines across the country.

Having listened to the minister’s detailed report on the situation in all the affected regions, the president gave a number of instructions. "First of all, we will promptly resolve issues related to the life of the communities together with other stakeholders such as the Energy Ministry, Housing and Utilities ministry, and others," the minister said. According to him, this task is largely solved.
The second area that the head of state paid special attention to is the restoration of electricity supply, first of all, in Mogilev. “I informed the president that we keep in touch with the Energy Ministry, Governor of Mogilev Oblast Anatoly Isachenko and are taking both design and engineering decisions to restore power supply to the enterprises as quickly as possible. The president additionally urged to focus all necessary efforts on solving this most important task,” the minister noted.

Another area of main efforts, according to the president’s instructions, is prompt elimination of consequences in communities of the country, including in forests.
“This work is being carried out and action will be taken promptly. Tomorrow, Mogilev Oblast residents will join a clean-up day, declared by the decision of the governor. The whole city will join the efforts to clean up the city after the storm,” Vadim Sinyavsky added.
