MINSK, 4 November (BelTA) - Seven people have been registered as presidential candidates in the Republic of Belarus, Chairman of the Belarusian Central Election Commission Igor Karpenko told the media in Minsk on 4 November, BelTA has learned.
"All in all, 11 applications have been submitted to the CEC. We registered 7 initiative groups. Four were denied registration for various reasons: an incomplete set of documents, insufficient number of members of the initiative group (lower than envisaged in law), or inaccurate information," Igor Karpenko said.
Belarus' presidential election is scheduled for 26 January 2025.
