Efforts to secure equal rights for citizens of Belarus, Russia discussed in Moscow

MOSCOW, 12 November (BelTA) – A session of the joint interagency working group on equal rights of citizens of the Republic of Belarus and of the Russian Federation took place in Moscow on 12 November. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia Aleksandr Rogozhnik took part in it, the press service of the Belarusian embassy told BelTA.

Problems in ensuring the equal rights of Belarusian and Russian citizens in healthcare, higher education, transport, and sport were discussed. Close attention was paid to peculiarities of providing mobile communication services, including for the sake of logistics, to measures designed to simply border control procedures in Russian airports.

Aleksandr Rogozhnik mentioned it is necessary to rigorously observe the legal framework of the Union State of Belarus and Russia that guarantees equal rights of citizens of Belarus and Russia. The ambassador called for setting specific deadlines for implementing the appropriate directives of the Union State Council of Ministers and resolutions of the joint working group. He emphasized the importance of interaction between the relevant government agencies of Belarus and Russia for the sake of enabling the genuine equality of citizens in the territory of both states.

Top officials of Belarusian and Russian government agencies and organizations, representatives of the Standing Committee of the Union State of Belarus and Russia also took part in the session.
