MOSCOW, 2 November (BelTA) – The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) plans to set up the Eurasian Agency for Strategic Initiatives. The matter was discussed at a meeting of the high-level working group on creating conditions to improve the sustainability of the economies of the EAEU member states, including macroeconomic stability, the official representative of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Iya Malkina told a briefing on 2 November, BelTA has learned.
“The parties discussed a proposal to form a consortium of national strategic development institutions of the EAEU member states - the Eurasian Agency for Strategic Initiatives. As part of the work in this area, a package of documents on the development of the consortium will be submitted for discussion at a meeting of the Union State bodies,” said Iya Malkina.
“In addition, the progress of work on the formation of new logistics chains, including the development of a favorable mode of transportation and simplification of administrative procedures was considered. The matter concerned the transportation of goods to Kazakhstan, for which transshipment/overloading was previously carried out in the territories of the other EAEU states. The matter also pertained to the international transportation within the EAEU amid the restrictions imposed on obtaining driver's cards for digital control devices (tachometers). The work on these issues continues,” the EEC representative said.
