Durov released from custody on bail, remains under judicial supervision

 MINSK, 29 August (BelTA) – Telegram CEO Pavel Durov left the courthouse in Paris on 28 August after being released from custody on a €5 million bail, RIA Novosti informs.  

He is forbidden from leaving France and must check in at a police station twice a week, according to a statement from the Paris prosecutor's office. The businessman was indicted with a number of charges related to illicit activity on the app. The charges include complicity in managing an online platform in order to enable an illegal transaction in organized group, and refusal to communicate information to law enforcement authorities, concealment of crimes as part of an organized criminal group, complicity in the distribution of child pornography by an organized group, drug trafficking and fraud.

Pavel Durov was detained on 24 August at Le Bourget airport in Paris as part of an investigation into the activities of his messaging platform.
