MINSK, 24 September (BelTA) - Children of different ages from all over Belarus took part in the National Children's Drawing Contest "My president is the most…". Some of them came to meet with First Deputy Head of the Belarus President Administration Natalya Petkevich and Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus Yuri Senko at the national trade union center in Minsk on 24 September, BelTA has learned.
The contest was held in two categories: among students of children's art schools and among the children of trade union members. More than 150 children and teenagers took part in it. Fifty children whose works were recognized as the best were invited to the meeting at the at the national trade union center. The winner in the nomination among students of children's art schools was 13-year-old Diana Pavlyukova from the town of Korma, Gomel Oblast, with the drawing "My president is the friendliest". The girl attends the Korma Children's School of Arts.
Diana explained that she came up with the idea of the drawing herself. "I decided to make such a drawing because our country never quarrels with anyone, it is the friendliest. The president plays an important role in this. Therefore, I decided to choose his theme," the winner explained. She added that she considers the president a friendly, hardworking and brave person.
The girl admitted that competition was tough and that she did not really hope to win. "It was a national event, and I knew that competition would be very high. When I learnt I had won, I was very happy. It was a great opportunity to show my creativity and take the first price,” she said.
Six-year-old Mariya Piskun from Mozyr, Gomel Oblast with her work “My President is the Kindest” became the winner among the children of trade union members. The girl told about her experience: “My mom said that there was such a contest, and that we could take part in it. We decided to participate and I made this drawing”.
The girl's mother Olga said that her daughter was artistic from a very young age. She was already drawing a lot at the age of three. Once her parents did not give her brushes, and she began to color with her fingers. She did really great. Now the girl gets plenty of paints and coloring books.
“Mariya does not attend art classes, but she is really talented. She draws and colors. We did this picture in pencil together. I helped her a little. She colored the whole picture herself. She did most of the drawing at my workplace, while I was busy with work issues. I kept her busy with the drawing,” Olga said.
The mother added that her daughter came up with the idea of the drawing herself. She suggested drawing the president hugging the children. She decided to add the Belarusian flag at the top, so that everyone could understand that it was Belarus. At the bottom she wanted to draw field flowers – chamomiles, cornflowers and ‘those from the emblem’. “We realized that she meant flax,” the mother explained. “At first she wanted to draw a bison, but we decided that it would be rather difficult to do, so we decided to draw a stork, another a symbol of Belarus.
By the way, Olga offered her daughter to help her with the picture, but the girl refused saying that it should be her own work. "I did not correct anything at all. We left everything untouched," Olga said. The girl told the journalists that the picture was beautiful, because she drew with her heart.
According to Yuri Senko, the commission selected 50 best works. "The Federation of Trade Unions made an exhibition. It has been on display in the central office for quite a long time. Visitors were able see how talented young people in our country are," he said. The best works were included in the album that was presented to the head of state.
Yuri Senko noted that it was not easy to choose 50 best works because each child put their hearts and souls into their drawings. Every drawing has its own features. But it was the contest and the contest must have winners. The youngest participant is 6 years old, the oldest is 16 years old. These are children from all regions of the country. Each of them has shown the way they see the Belarusian leader. These works are not just creative. The federation believes that they reflect children's worldview, attitude to their homeland and their citizenship.
The Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus thanked the children for their active participation in the contest, and their parents – for the patriotic education of decent young people. The children received gifts and gratitude and went on excursions around the city.
