Discover Belarus competition winners awarded in Minsk

MINSK, 20 December (BelTA) – Winners of the nationwide tourism competition Discover Belarus were awarded in Minsk on 19 December, BelTA has learned.

Darya Baranovskaya (Kobrin, Brest Oblast) won in the nomination “I am discovering Belarus” where participants were invited to send as many photos from their trips as possible. A total of 100 applications were received. The winner sent 295 photos.

Yelena Romashko's photo (Moroch agro-town, Kletsk District, Minsk Oblast) was named the Photo of the Year. A total of 234 people took part in the nomination to present the tourist potential of Belarus. Special certificates were also bestowed upon participants from Italy, South Africa, and Hungary.

Some 249 applications were sent under the nomination “Stories about my Native Land”. The winner of the nomination is Galina Naumchik (Lyakhovichi District, Brest Oblast).

The Museum of the History of the Vitebsk People's Art School, a branch of the Vitebsk Center of Modern Art, won in the nomination “Museums and Entertainment Facilities of the Year”.

The President Hotel and the Belarus Hotel were named the Places of Accommodation of the Year. Yunost Spa Resort (Minsk Oblast) is the winner in the Spa Resorts nomination.

Stuly (Ethnic Culture nomination), Zapovedny Ostrov (Ethic Farm Stay), Valozhynskiya Gastsintsy (Agri-Tourism Cluster) were named the best farm holiday facilities.

Tamara Fedortsova (Minsk) was named the Tour Guide of the Year.

Among the awardees were also the best travel agency and the project of the year, and also the media for covering tourism issues.

Discover Belarus competition is run by the Sport and Tourism Ministry and the National Tourism Agency.
