MOGILEV, 2 April (BelTA) - Belarus and Russia are united by the heroic past and promising plans for the future, Third Secretary of the Russian Embassy in Belarus Kirill Pletnev told the media during the celebrations on the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia in Mogilev on 2 April, BelTA has learned.
“I would like to thank the Mogilev Oblast leadership for inviting me to such a great and important celebration. On behalf of the embassy I would like to congratulate our peoples on this holiday - the Belarusians, who live and work in the Russian Federation, and the Russians, who live and work in Belarus. Belarus and Russia are united by the heroic past and promising plans for the future. Today is another occasion to recall the long way our countries have come together and to outline plans for further development,” said Kirill Pletnev.
Mogilev Oblast Vice Governor Valery Malashko addressed the guests of the event.
“Today we are celebrating a historical date. The document on the establishment of the Union of Belarus and Russia was signed 25 years ago. It launched a unique integration process. The Union State project reflects a sincere desire of our peoples to be together. Belarusians and Russians have much in common: we speak one language, we share a similar mentality and spiritual values. No one will ever be able to divide our peoples. The presidents of the two countries have been doing a lot to further strengthen and develop the Union State. We implement joint projects in economic, humanitarian, industrial, technical and other sectors. Mogilev Oblast is an active participant of these processes. We cooperate with dozens of Russian regions. No distance can hinder human friendship, trade and economic ties,” said Valery Malashko.
The guests were invited to a concert at the local Center of Culture. The performance featured the Belarusian National Orchestra named after L.L.Ivanov and People's Artist of the Russian Federation Nadezhda Krygina.
