MINSK, 20 February (BelTA) – Belarus-Azerbaijan relations are developing on the basis of friendship and cooperation, Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vadim Ipatov said, BelTA has learned.

The parliamentary delegation of the Republic of Belarus led by Chairperson of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova is in Azerbaijan on an official visit. The Belarusian parliamentary delegation includes Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Vadim Ipatov. The key events of the visit are participation in a session of the Executive Council of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly and the 15th Plenary Session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly.

“The most important outcome of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly's session for us was its decision to grant Belarus observer status. The voice of Belarus calling for peace and stability was heard from the rostrum of the assembly. Our country got an opportunity to share its views on the formation of a new world order, where there is no dictate of certain countries, where all states can develop based on their national traditions and historical identity. Of course, the meeting with President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev was very important. The Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Azerbaijan reaffirmed their commitment to fulfilling bilateral agreements,” the deputy speaker said.

According to him, relations between Belarus and Azerbaijan are developing on the basis of friendship and cooperation. “Many cooperation projects are aimed primarily at improving living standards of our citizens. These are projects in economy, education, culture, healthcare,  in other words, the areas that allow us to bring peoples closer and reach a new level of interaction,” the vice-speaker noted.
