
MINSK, 19 June (BelTA) - The Committee of Secretaries of Security Councils of the CSTO member states convened for a meeting in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan on 19 June, BelTA learned from the State Secretariat of the Security Council of the Republic of Belarus.
The secretaries of the Security Councils discussed the situation in the CSTO area of responsibility and measures to tackle challenges and threats to collective security and adopted the decisions to ensure coordination of the activities of the member states in the military and political dimensions. Progress in the first stage of the CSTO Interstate Target Program to strengthen the Tajik-Afghan border was considered separately. The heads of delegations signed a number of documents, including the plan for the development of military cooperation of the CSTO member states for 2026-2030.
The meeting was attended by a delegation of the State Secretariat of the Security Council of the Republic of Belarus headed by Aleksandr Volfovich. In his speech, the head of the Belarusian delegation spoke about the aggravation of the military-political situation in the Eastern European region of collective security of the CSTO. The Belarusian side also urged to start work on the development of a new Collective Security Strategy for the period until 2035.
On the sidelines of the meeting in Cholpon-Ata, Aleksandr Volfovich and his colleagues discussed he prospects for bilateral cooperation between the Security Councils and other topical issues related to the joint work of the law enforcement agencies of the member states.
