MOSCOW, 31 May (BelTA) – Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Stanislav Zas met with Ambassador of Switzerland to Russia Krystyna Marty Lang on 31 May. The ambassador has recently started working in Moscow, CSTO Press Secretary Vladimir Zainetdinov told BelTA.
Upon the ambassador's request the CSTO secretary general shared his evaluation of the situation in the Eastern Europe, Caucasus, and Central Asia collective security regions of the organization. Stanislav Zas also talked about the measures the Collective Security Treaty Organization is taking to prevent and resolve conflict situations and fight modern challenges and threats. The Collective Security Treaty Organization's cooperation was mentioned with such international organizations as the United Nations Organization, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the Commonwealth of Independent States, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
It was stressed that it is important for the international community to strengthen international peace and security, counteract terrorism, drugs trafficking, and crimes in the sphere of information technologies. The readiness was expressed for future contacts for the sake of continued exchange of opinions about matters of mutual interest.
