MOSCOW, 31 May (BelTA) - The defense ministers of the CSTO member states agreed to provide the collective forces with modern equipment and weapons, BelTA learned from the CSTO press service following the meeting of the CSTO of Defense Ministers Council in Almaty, Kazakhstan on 31 May.
“The defense ministers considered and signed documents concerning equipping the CSTO troops (collective forces) with modern and promising models of weapons and hardware, planning joint operational and combat training, improving training methods for CSTO peacekeeping contingents, as well as the targeted interstate program of the Collective Security Treaty Organization to strengthen the Tajik-Afghan border and a number of others,” the press service said.
CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov made a report on “Challenges and threats to military security in the collective security regions of the Collective Security Treaty Organization”. The meeting participants discussed the military and political situation in the regions of collective security and its impact on the security of the member states.
The meeting participants honored the memory of legendary soldiers of the Great Patriotic War and laid a wreath at the Eternal Flame Memorial in the 28 Panfilov Guardsmen Park.
