Coronavirus situation unlikely to affect academic progress of Chinese students in Belarus

MINSK, 11 February (BelTA) – The coronavirus situation will not affect the education process of Chinese students in Belarus, BelTA learned from Belarusian Education Minister Igor Karpenko on 11 February.

The official said: “We've shifted vacations for the Chinese students, who have gone home. We can extend them if necessary. We are ready to offer individual curricula for the students, who have not returned to Belarus for some reason or intend to return later. If necessary, we will make arrangements on a case-by-case basis and will extend the education process in June-July.”

In his words, Chinese students have nothing to worry about. “Everything will be organized in line with the curricula. All rectors of Belarusian universities demonstrate an understanding approach to the current situation. I've met with the Council of Rectors and we've worked out uniform approaches,” the education minister noted.

Igor Karpenko reminded that students coming from China have to spend two weeks in the recreation center Brigantina of the Belarusian State University. “It will allow them to get adapted. But one should understand that people coming from China, including our citizens, are not coming from the quarantine zone. The Chinese side also very seriously monitors the matter. We stay in touch with medical institutions and follow their instructions precisely,” he added.
