Combat readiness test of Belarusian army units focuses on radioelectronic warfare, drones

MINSK, 17 April (BelTA) – In accordance with instructions of the Belarus president a test of combat readiness of individual units of the Armed Forces continues, BelTA learned from State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Aleksandr Volfovich.

Aleksandr Volfovich said: “The test covers a number of special army units: radioelectronic warfare units, air defense missile units, and units, which use unmanned aviation. These combatant arms play the most prominent role in conditions of modern combat operations. The experience of the special military operation in Ukraine confirms it.”

In his words, the test has been planned in a way to create a complicated radioelectronic environment that resembles an actual combat situation as much as possible. Army units at their permanent stations were brought to full combat readiness and marched for about 300km in the face of electromagnetic countermeasures and actions of sabotage and reconnaissance forces, including those using drones. “Practicing the counteraction of raiding forces using unmanned aviation was in focus,” the state secretary of the Security Council stressed.

Aleksandr Volfovich also said that a test of air defense missile units was nearing completion. It involved combat launches of missiles. “All the launches were successful. The targets were hit. It was confirmed by visual observation and instrumental data. However, live recording materials have been requested in order to better evaluate the performance of the inspected units. On the whole, the inspected military units accomplished their missions. They demonstrated an excellent level of training and skills. At the same time certain problems have been uncovered. They require an additional analysis in order to neutralize the shortcomings in the course of future combat training,” he said.

According to Aleksandr Volfovich, such tests are necessary because they uncover positive aspects and the flaws that require attention. These events are particularly necessary considering the tense situation around Belarus and the increasing hysteria on the part of western countries. In this context the test launched according to the plan and upon instructions of the president is likely to cause a certain reaction among the foreign opponents, who may accuse Belarus of preparing for an aggression or of taking inadequate actions, he remarked.

However, according to Aleksandr Volfovich, the western countries fail to pay attention to their own actions such as military exercises and the steps they take in their own territory, causing bigger worries. “The recent hysteria regarding the arrival of parade units from friendly countries for the Victory parade is an example of that,” the state secretary of the Security Council noted. In this context he also mentioned fake news about the possible redeployment of Russian army units into Belarus’ territory. He added that Russian authorities had repeatedly stated the need to find a consensus and end the conflict.

Aleksandr Volfovich stressed that the events going on in Belarus’ territory are scheduled ones and are aimed at improving the quality of combat training of military units. He drew attention to the fact that the test involves not only army units but also other structures of the military organization of the state. It allows more efficiently evaluating the actions meant to repulse possible attacks of sabotage and reconnaissance forces and illegal armed units.
