
BREST, 22 August (BelTA) - The identified habitats of the Collared Flycatcher, a species listed in the Red Data Book of Belarus, have been placed under the protection of the Belovezhskaya Pushcha National Park. The decision (No. 1522) of the Kamenets District Executive Committee, dated 5 August, has been published on the National Legal Internet Portal, BelTA has learned.
The rare Collared Flycatcher has favored the grounds of the Belyansky, Korolevo-Mostovsky, and Nikorsky forestries. Over 200 hectares, where habitats of these Red Book-listed birds have been identified, have been placed under the protection of the national park. A special regime of protection and use is being established there. Specifically, during the nesting period from 1 May to 15 July, it is prohibited to conduct forest logging, harvest resin and secondary forest resources, or engage in ancillary forest use. Additionally, the felling of old-growth hollow trees is prohibited. All types of main-use logging, as well as thinning, reconstruction, renewal, and formation cuttings of forest vegetation are banned.
The decision of the Kamenets District Executive Committee has entered into force following its official publication.
