CIS plenipotentiary representatives to meet in Minsk on 17 April

MINSK, 15 April (BelTA) – Minsk will play host to a meeting of the CIS Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives on 17 April, BelTA learned from the press service of the CIS Executive Committee. 

The permanent representatives are expected to sum up the results of the meeting of the CIS Foreign Ministers Council, which was held in Minsk on 12 April and outline a plan of action to implement the documents and agreements reached in Minsk.

The members of the CIS Foreign Ministers Council exchanged views on topical issues on the international agenda and cooperation in the format of the CIS, endorsed the establishment of a single anniversary medal "80 years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945", approved the draft convention on the legal status of delegations sent to the CIS states.  The ministers of foreign affairs identified the sports capitals of the CIS for the next two years, made decisions on three base organizations: in the field of research in military security, university sports, and also training and advanced training of personnel for judicial systems. The Council summed up the results of the multi-level ministerial consultations in 2023 and reviewed the status of of the action program to enhance partnership between the foreign ministries of the CIS countries. The foreign ministers of the CIS member states have adopted a joint statement on ensuring safe working conditions for media workers and preventing infringement of their rights and passed a statement on the 30th Anniversary of granting observer status to the CIS at the UN General Assembly.

The permanent representatives also intend to analyze the results of the Year of the Russian Language as a Language of Interethnic Communication in the CIS in 2023, discuss the development of transport and logistics infrastructure and corridors, and take an inventory of the legal framework. The CIS Council of Permanent Representatives is set to pass a press release on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945.
