CIS Information Council discusses preparations for 80th anniversary of Victory  

MOSCOW, 16 September (BelTA) - The CIS Council of Heads of State News Agencies (CIS Information Council) convened for the 32nd meeting in Moscow on 16 September. It was attended by the heads of state news agencies of the CIS countries, including BelTA Director General Irina Akulovich, BelTA has learned.

One of the most important topics was the preparations for the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Members of the CIS Information Council discussed the experience of working on projects to preserve the historical truth about the fight of the Soviet people against fascism.

The heads of news agencies exchanged experience in the use of modern media technologies and explored the prospects for developing cooperation in terms of journalistic exchanges and professional development. The council discussed the international projects of state news agencies and highlighted the importance of developing cultural and humanitarian cooperation within the CIS, programs and projects to promote ties in culture, science, youth exchanges, tourism and sport.


In addition, the meeting participants exchanged views on the BRICS media summit, which was held in Moscow on 14-15 September. 

The CIS Information Council was established in 1995. The council is headed by Director General of the Russian agency TASS Andrei Kondrashov. The mission of the CIS Information Council is to ensure interaction and cooperation of the CIS countries in media scape, to create favorable conditions for the unhindered dissemination of information and effective exchange of professional experience, and to strengthen media partnership.
