
MINSK, 24 September (BelTA) – Plans have been made to adopt a concept on military cooperation of the CIS states till 2030 at a session of the CIS Heads of State Council in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. The news was released at a session of the Committee of Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces of the CIS states, BelTA has learned.
“Today when the international situation is characterized by growing instability, by conflicts, and by tougher competition between major powers, matters of reinforcing the joint security of the Commonwealth states acquire special significance. The forthcoming session of the CIS Heads of State Council to be held in Dushanbe on 10 October is expected to pass a concept on military cooperation of the Commonwealth member states till 2030,” said Yevgeny Klemez, Director of the Security Cooperation Department of the CIS Executive Committee. He read out a welcome message sent by Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Sergei Lebedev.
A session of the Committee of Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces of the CIS states is taking place in Minsk. Taking part in the session are heads of the defense ministries of Belarus, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan as well as of the Secretariat of the CIS Defense Ministers Council and representatives of the CIS Executive Committee.
