CIS foreign ministers begin meeting with minute of silence to honor Crocus City Hall victims

MINSK, 12 April (BelTA) – The ministers of foreign affairs of the CIS member states honored the victims of the terrorist attack in Crocus City Hall with a minute of silence at the start of the CIS Foreign Ministers Council meeting in Minsk on 12 April, BelTA has learned.

“I invite all the participants to observe a minute of silence in tribute to the memory of the victims of the terrorist attack in Crocus City Hall,” Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Aleinik said opening the meeting.

Besides Russians, among the victims of this horrifying crime are citizens of many countries of the CIS, the minister said. “Innocent people suffer from terrorism and its international component, regardless of nationality, ethnicity or religion. We share the grief of relatives and friends of the victims, of the entire Russian nation,” he emphasized.

“It is important that the pain of losing one’s loved ones, anger and resentment do not make our societies embittered, or sow discord and tension. Adversity should unite us. In this context, we, as public servants, should set aside emotions and look for ways to jointly counteract common challenges,” Sergei Aleinik said.
