CIS countries to cooperate in civil shipbuilding

MINSK, 12 December (BelTA) - An agreement on cooperation in civil shipbuilding and ship components manufacturing among the CIS member states was signed at the meeting of the CIS Heads of Government Council in Moscow on 12 December, BelTA from the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.
 
The main purpose of the agreement is to promote civil shipbuilding in the CIS countries taking into account the priority areas of economic modernization and national strategic industry programs in order to increase the share of CIS civil shipbuilding manufacturers in the world market. 
The parties to the agreement are committed to promoting mutually agreed solutions to build cooperative chains of manufacturing processes of civil shipbuilding products and ship components for joint production of high-tech goods.
 
Within the framework of the agreement, the countries will share their best practices concerning the stimulation of state support measures in civil shipbuilding and ship component manufacturing, priority orders for these products, development of public-private partnership to accelerate the modernization of the civil shipbuilding facilities in the CIS countries and improve their performance, creation of favorable conditions for business entities to establish joint ventures, consortia and joint research centers in civil shipbuilding and ship components manufacturing.

As part of the agreement the parties shall exchange information on the priority products of civil shipbuilding and ship components for the CIS states, to coordinate the main areas of cooperation and joint actions.  

It is expected that the cooperation of the CIS states within the framework of the agreement will allow enterprises and organizations to expand the range of manufactured high-tech products, assimilate a number of unique technology cycles, and increase employment in mechanical engineering. It will undoubtedly contribute to the development of the economies of the CIS member states.
