MINSK, 22 July (BelTA) – Deputy Head of the Belarus President Administration Olga Chupris told the Belarus 1 TV channel how Belarus is going to carry out a large-scale overhaul of legislation, BelTA has learned.
The president has recently given an instruction to streamline regulatory legal acts. Olga Chupris was asked about the starting point of this work and the role of the Constitutional Court in it.
“The president call it a revolutionary path. It was prompted by the evolutionary development of the Republic of Belarus as an independent state over the course of 30 years. And this evolutionary movement, in the end, led us to the situation when a large number of regulatory legal acts have become unimplementable. Of course, the president acknowledged the problems and set the task to carry out a massive overhaul of the legislation in order to enable its further improvement,” she said.
“On 1 Marc of next year, we should show the president the outcomes of our work,” added Olga Chupris. “We may have to extend the deadline, if necessary. The president will make the decision on it, but this does not mean that the work will last for years. Getting this work done is precisely the task of the Belarus President Administration and the National Center for Legislation and Legal Information,” she said.
The deputy head of the Belarus President Administration named the mechanisms to be used in implementing the president’s instruction. “A decree has already been adopted by the head of the Belarus President Administration to give instructions to the center to put together working groups consisting of specialists from various government bodies, as well as scholars. People should also be involved in this process, since this legislation will have an impact on their lives, thus we will need their feedback. Individuals and organizations will be able to contribute their views from 20 July to 1 October through the National Legal Internet Portal (pravo.by),” noted Olga Chupris.
In addition to using the above-mentioned website, those interested will be able to submit their proposals and suggestions in writing or in person to the National Center for Legislation and Legal Information, she added.
