Chinese futsal team tour Great Patriotic War Museum in Minsk

MINSK, 20 October (BelTA) - A delegation of the Chinese national futsal team has taken a guided tour of the Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War in Minsk, BelTA has learned.

The delegation arrived in Belarus to play two friendly matches on 17 and 19 October. A total of 20 athletes joined the tour, but according to Ivan Gorovets, Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian Futsal Association, a large number of Chinese supporters were also present in the stands for the matches.

“As part of our preparation for the European championship, the idea arose to invite the Chinese national team for friendly matches. They gladly agreed. We know that China lost about 35 million people during the Second World War, so for them, being here is also symbolic. They are very pleased with their stay in Belarus; they liked both the city and the people. A truly fraternal nation,” he said.

The Chinese representatives were shown Soviet-era equipment. They learned about the progression of the war with the help of maps, and were shown rare items from the collection. They were all very engaged, taking photos to remember the visit.

Chinese footballer Li Xin said the delegation was very impressed by the museum.

“It was great that we learned so much information about the war, about such tragic events. We were most impressed by learning how the war unfolded on the territory of Belarus. We really liked Minsk; the people in the city and the place itself evoked pleasant feelings,” the athlete shared.
