MINSK, 14 August (BelTA) — Exhibition of works by Chinese students, undergraduates, postgraduates, and interns of the Belarusian State Academy of Arts has kicked off at the National Clinical Medical Center of the Belarus President Property Management Directorate, BelTA has learned.
The exhibition titled as Space of Ideas has kicked off on 14 August. It is a research project that drew together Chinese students, undergraduates, postgraduates, and interns of the Belarusian State Academy of Arts with different creative and life experience.
The exhibition combines experimental and documentary features. The works on view reflect the traditions of Belarusian and world art, new ideas and creative enthusiasm of young artists, and modern visual language.
The exhibition features portraits made with great love and interest, Mikhail Borozna noted. He explained that to do a portrait an artist studies the person: his character, behavior, facial expressions, eye expressions, speech.
"There are landscapes, abstract works, beautiful photographs that demonstrate artists’ skills and compositional vision. We also have etchings here," Mikhail Borozna said, adding that Chinese students demonstrate tremendous success in this technique. He is sure that such exhibitions strengthen cooperation. "I saw paintings depicting Belarusian architecture placed in a Chinese landscape. What we see here is an act of interaction, which from the point of view of art appreciation is extremely valuable, extremely useful. This trend will probably have its continuation in more complex variable metaphorical solutions," Mikhail Borozna said.
Xia Guangyuan, Cultural Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Belarus, noted that many Chinese students study at Belarusian art universities. When asked why they chose such a beautiful country as Belarus, he replied: "Because Belarus has incredible nature with stunning views that inspire every master." Xia Guangyuan noted the excellent basis for training skills and cultivating the artistic taste. He is sure that all this helps Chinese masters to grow professionally and create high-quality, authentic works of art.
Xia Guangyuan considers it important that the exhibition is running in the medical center, which fully meets the values of the two countries such as humanism, mutual understanding. According to him, art helps patients improve their health, reduce stress and helps express emotions. The cultural counselor also drew attention to the strategic partnership between Belarus and China. Cultural ties are important part as they bind the countries together. The Chinese side has always supported cultural exchanges with Belarus. It will fully support initiatives that promote mutual understanding and friendly relations between peoples.
In conclusion, Belarus’ First Deputy Healthcare Minister Yuri Gorbich noted that medicine is only partly a science. To a large extent, it is art. "Here and now, two arts have met - the art of healing and fine art which we are used to seeing in a museum rather than in a medical center," he said.
Art really heals, reduces stress, and makes patients feel more comfortable, Yuri Gorbich said. The exhibition is a success because you want to look at each of these paintings again and again. They, according to him, really do not let go.

This is not our first project. I think our previous projects were interesting for everyone.”
Irina Abelskaya said that almost every floor of the medical institution is decorated with the works made by young artists and more experienced authors in various styles and techniques. "I think it can be helpful for patients' treatment and their emotional state. It is one of the methods of stress relief and rehabilitation. It is a proven fact," she said.

There is a positive interaction between Belarusians, who are open by nature, and Chinese students, which is manifested not only in this exhibition. "I am very glad that students from China choose our academy. We learn patriotism and love for homeland from them. We also have these feelings, but we want to be better. The example of Chinese youth is very instructive," Mikhail Borozna said.
