MINSK, 7 May (BelTA) - The Great Victory symbolizes the triumph of justice over evil, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Belarus Zhang Wenchuan said as he attended a solemn assembly to mark the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War in Minsk on 6 May, BelTA has learned.
"Victory Day is one of the most important holidays in Belarus," the diplomat emphasized. "It commemorates the historic moment when the Soviet Union triumphed over Nazi Germany in 1945. This victory holds profound significance for the entire history of mankind."
"Victory represents the triumph of justice over evil, a light that dispels darkness. It reminds all people how difficult it is to achieve peace. This year marks 80 years since the victory of the Chinese people in the War of Resistance against Japanese aggression, the victory in the World Anti-Fascist War and the Great Patriotic War," Ambassador Zhang Wenchuan said.

"The peoples of China and Belarus paid a high price in this catastrophe. Three million Belarusians perished in that war. China, as the main battlefield in the East during the World Anti-Fascist War, lost 35 million people. Through these immense losses, both nations made a significant historical contribution to ensuring victory in the World Anti-Fascist War, saving their people and shaping the independent future of mankind," the ambassador concluded.
